I don’t normally read romance books. Which is probably an awful way to start a “Rom-Com Book Recommendations” blog post. Most of the books I read have a sub-plot of a romance threaded between solving mysteries, epic quests, or classical adventures. However, last year I had this whim to read a genre I never really read: romantic comedies. I wanted to find good books that were clean, but also had characters and storylines that I would find interesting, on top of a believable romance plot.
Here are three clean romance authors whose books immediately captured my attention:
- Melissa Ferguson
Last year I read Meet Me in the Margins by Melissa Ferguson and I enjoyed it! This year, I read How to Plot a Payback and I loved it! Ferguson does a great job of creating characters in fun environments (a TV show star on set in Hollywood or an editor working for a publishing house, for example!). Her book Famous for a Living is next on my To-Be-Read list!
- Nicole Deese
Last year, I read Deese’s Fog Harbor Series and loved it! Deese does a great job at making the characters so real, while putting them in fun environments and even adding a slight sense of mystery (not necessarily your typical cloak-and-dagger, but certainly a question that you need answered as you turn the pages!). I can’t wait to read more of her books!
- Courtney Walsh
I’ve read: Summer of Yes, The Happy Life of Isadora Bentley, and Everything’s Coming Up Rosie and I must say: I have found a new favorite author. Walsh’s ability to combine a romance plot with laugh-out-loud scenes, all while making her characters very relatable as they face real-life circumstances is what made her writing stand out to me. Not only did her books make me laugh, but they also made me tear up! I can’t say there’s any other book/author that has made me laugh and cry within one story!
So, if you are in need of clean romances to read, try one of these authors!
Happy Valentine’s Day weekend! And certainly do not forget the greatest love story ever: For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life. John 3:16
Happy reading!
What a fun post for this weekend! I am really enjoying Courtney Walsh’s “My Phony Valentine” right now – she is such a good author! Excited to read the others.
